i need help with interest rates!?

i was going to put away 500/mo into a cd my bank offers 5.1% i know this is good as far as cd'sgo but i have been doing some math and im not that impressed.is there anywhere that is better? dosent have to be a cd, just a better return. i want my money to work for me.
